The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued red alerts for two districts in Kerala — Kannur and Kasaragod due to the likelihood of extremely heavy rainfall in the region. A red alert is the most serious warning level, indicating very heavy to extremely heavy rain (over 21 cm in 24 hours) that can lead to flooding, landslides, and widespread disruption.
